About
Behind every statistic is a person with dreams, fears, hopes, and experiences that deserve to be acknowledged. Muriyar Ta exists to create a safe and anonymous space where girls and young women can share their stories in their own words because lasting change begins by listening.
Our Story
Before the world knew Malala Yousafzai as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and global advocate for girls' education, she was simply a young girl sharing her experiences of being denied the right to learn. Her story did not introduce a new problem to the world. Girls had been excluded from education for generations. What changed was that people finally connected with the human experience behind the statistics.
Muriyar Ta was born from the same belief.
Too often, conversations about child marriage, gender based violence, barriers to education, and harmful social norms are reduced to numbers, reports, and policy discussions. While statistics help us understand the scale of a problem, they can never fully capture the realities of the people living through it.
Behind every statistic is a story waiting to be heard.
Muriyar Ta exists so that those stories are no longer left unheard.
Anonymity
Sharing deeply personal experiences should never come at the cost of someone's safety.
For many girls and young women, speaking openly about child marriage, gender based violence, discrimination, family pressure, or other sensitive experiences can expose them to stigma, retaliation, or further harm. Too often, silence is not a choice. It is a survival strategy.
By allowing stories to be shared anonymously, Muriyar Ta removes some of those barriers. We believe girls should be able to speak honestly without fear of judgment or consequences. Anonymity allows contributors to remain protected while ensuring their experiences can still educate, inspire, and contribute to meaningful conversations.
Mission & Vision
To create a safe and anonymous platform where girls and young women can share their stories freely, without fear, stigma, or judgment. Through storytelling, digital media, and advocacy, Muriyar Ta amplifies voices that too often go unheard, helping transform lived experiences into awareness, dialogue, and action. Rather than speaking on behalf of girls and young women, Muriyar Ta exists to create a space where they can speak for themselves.
A world where every girl has the opportunity to safely share her story, have her voice heard, and contribute to shaping the policies, programs, and social norms that affect her life.

The name
Muriyar Ta means "Her Voice" in Hausa. More than a name, it is a promise. A promise that every girl who visits this platform will find a space where her voice matters, and her story will help shed light on the injustices faced by girls and women.
From the founder
Growing up in Maradi, Niger, I often questioned the silence surrounding issues that shaped the lives of girls and young women. I was curious, constantly asking questions about traditions, expectations, and topics that were rarely discussed openly.
From a very young age, I was exposed to community work and leadership experiences that transformed my understanding of advocacy. They taught me that meaningful change begins by listening to the people most affected.
Why do we so rarely hear directly from the girls whose lives are being discussed?
Too often, their experiences are summarized through statistics, reports, and research while their own voices remain absent. Muriyar Ta was born from the belief that every statistic represents a real person with a story worth hearing. I wanted to create a space where girls and young women could share those experiences safely, anonymously, and in their own words. A space where they are not spoken for, but listened to.
As someone passionate about gender equality, education, international development, and social impact, I believe storytelling is more than a way of sharing experiences. It is a way of building understanding, challenging harmful norms, and informing better policies and solutions.
Silence protects perpetrators, not victims. Speaking up is the only way to break the silence and the cycle of violence.
